Voyage of the Ardent Citadel Week 17
The Ardent Citadel has arrived on station in Athaip GU-X C2-541. This is approximately the midway point of our “trip to the middle of nowhere” so we plan on remaining on station for a few weeks to allow our commanders a change to explore the surrounding area at their leisure.
Word from the bubble of the sighting of a mysterious object moving through interstellar space (and some visible to observers light years away) has the entire carrier’s compliment on edge. While events are developing fast in the bubble and debates about whether or not we should return to defend it still abound, the new fear is of something unknown rearing its head right where we are.
I’ve had many calming conversations with the crew about this, reminding them that discovering the unexpected, be it friendly or not, is precisely why we’re here. If we encounter something here related to the misadventures back in the bubble then at least we can help by learning what we can and warning the rest of humanity. Not that our leaders would make good use of such a warning—the current crop has not impressed so far.
For now, we continue our mission and perhaps, perhaps, we shall discover something of use in the conflicts to come.
